Some Issues on Self-Calibration and Critical Motion Sequences

چکیده
This paper is concerned with the problem of selfcalibration. First some general concepts are discussed, then several methods are briefly discussed. In the second part of the paper the problem of critical motion sequences is treated. This problem could cause an important limitation to the practical use of self-calibration. In this context several interesting results are presented. self-calibration, critical motion sequences, absolute conic, ambiguous reconstruction.

Critical Motion Sequences for Monocular Self-Calibration and Uncalibrated Euclidean Reconstruction
In this paper, sequences of camera motions that lead to inherent ambiguities in uncalibrated Euclidean reconstruction or self-calibration are studied. Our main contribution is a complete, detailed classification of these critical motion sequences (CMS). The practically important classes are identified and their degrees of ambiguity are derived. We also discuss some practical issues, especially ...
متن کاملSome Geometric Insight in Self - Calibration andCritical Motion
Self-calibration and critical motion sequences are problems which have received a lot of attention lately. The key concept for these problems is the absolute conic which appears as a natural calibration object always present in space. To observe it, however, self-calibration constraints are needed. In this paper a method to represent the rather abstract concept of the absolute conic through rea...
متن کاملRobot Motion Vision Part II: Implementation
The idea of Fixation introduced a direct method for general recovery of shape and motion from images without using either feature correspondence or optical flow [1,2]. There are some parameters which have important effects on the performance of fixation method. However, the theory of fixation does not say anything about the autonomous and correct choice of those parameters. This paper presents ...
متن کاملCritical Motion Sequences and Conjugacy of Ambiguous Euclidean Reconstructions
This paper deals with critical motion sequences, i.e. sequences of camera motions that lead to inherent ambiguities in uncalibrated Euclidean reconstruction or self-calibration. Concretely, we focus on how to deal with ambiguous reconstructions. We show that the ambiguous Euclidean reconstructions from a critical motion sequence are conjugated in a special sense. We discuss how these conjugacie...
متن کاملCritical Motion Sequences for the Self-Calibration of Cameras and Stereo Systems with Variable Focal Length
We consider the self-calibration problem for a moving camera whose intrinsic parameters are known, except the focal length, which may vary freely across different views. The conditions under which the determination of the focal length’s values for an image sequence is not possible, are derived. These depend only on the camera’s motions. We give a complete catalogue of the so-called critical mot...
